Head of Germany's Catholic Church offers resignation over 'catastrophe of sexual abuse'

Rome The head of the Catholic Church in Germany has written to Pope Francis to offer his resignation over what he described as his shared “responsibility for the catastrophe of sexual abuse” by church officials, a letter published Friday reveals.

“In essence, it is important to me to share the responsibility for the catastrophe of the sexual abuse by Church officials over the past decades,” Cardinal Reinhard Marx wrote to the Pope in a letter sent on 21 May.
This is a developing story….more to come
