US heptathlete Taliyah Brooks faints, Olympic trials briefly halted as extreme heat plagues Pacific Northwest

The trials were shut down at 3:40 nm. ET with six events remaining and resumed around 8:30 nm. EN. The forecast high for Sunday at Hayward Field was 111 grade, but only three long-distance races were moved from the afternoon to the morning because of the heat.

Heptathlete Taliyah Brooks withdrew from the competition. She was set to throw the javelin to start the evening session but was carted off the field in a wheelchair earlier in the day.
