Vanessa Kirby responds to Tom Cruise's viral coronavirus rant: 'Being safe is the message'

Vanessa Kirby stood by herMission: Impossibile” co-protagonista, Tom Cruise, after he made headlines in December for going on a tirade against crew members for breaking COVID-19 protocols on set.

L'attrice, who plays White Widow in the movie franchise, said she believes Cruise’s main message was about just trying to keep people safe in the middle of a global pandemic.

I think being safe is the message for everybody, veramente,” Kirby, 32, told Extra. Her sister is also a director’s assistant on the film.

“Per me, seeing my sister doing it on the ground and every day coming home from work and it all going well, it was all inspiring. The whole industry has been shut down – cinemas, theaters, film sets. Seeing her go and do it and be one of the first ones up gave me hope,” lei spiegò.

Kirby said that she’s due to begin shooting later in January.

Lo scorso mese, Il Sole obtained audio of Cruise allegedly screaming at his crew about not social distancing on set. In the expletive-filled tirade about the importance of safety precautions, the 58-year-old actor called the film the “gold standard” of shooting amid the pandemic.

The star explained that his rule applies toanyoneon the movie’s crew, slamming the employees for putting industry workerslivelihoods at risk.

Cruise also implied that he’s been under a great deal of stress, claiming he’son the phone with every fking studio at night,” as well as with insurance companies and producers.
